Today i am going to show you my state and my culture.
I hope you will going to love it.
One more secret.....Assamese girls are hell of beauty and simplicity :).
Assam is a state of India which is located in the north eastern part of india.
Here the people speak 'assamese' language.
And we are very rich in culture, ethnic group and our history is pretty memorable too.
Let me tell you one more fact that, Assam is very famous for its tea and one horn rhino.
It is the world largest tea growing region. So do come to taste a cup of tea of Assam :).
Today 14th April is regarded as new year according to assamese calender and the day before 14 is called "uruka" which is 13th april.
This is one of the main Bihu festival in Assam.
The name of this festival is Bohag bihu and also known as Rongali bihu.
In this festival all the group of people starting from child to old are celebrating the Bihu by dancing a specific traditional dance called Bihu dance.

The most respected thing in our assamese bihu is the "Gamusa".
It was prepared by the female member of the family and gift it as a new year regards to the loved one and to the respected one.
Earlier days the girl gave this Gamusa to her lover as a token of love in the festival and that was considered as a great pleasure and respect.
In this bihu dance the male used to play instruments and the female one dance.
The girls used to put one type of orchid in there hair which is known as "kopouphool" in assamese and is having a deep link with this bihu festival.
Some time male member too dance with the female member in a pair.
Assamese people are very accustom with the sound of cuckoo bird as it symbolized that the festival is coming.
That feeling is awesome when you wake up in the morning and heard the sound of cuckoo and the sound of "dhul" (traditional main instrument used in bihu), oh god i really missed that.
This festival last long for 5-8 days and in the first day all the people wear new clothes and they went to their elders and ask for blessings by touching their feet and the exchange of gifts also take place in that occasion.
After all this ceremony the young boys and girls went out of there home wearing there traditional dresses (like shown in the picture above) which was prepared in there home only either by there mother or sister and they perform Bihu dance in everyone's home within there locality or gaon or village. In return of the dance perform by them the owner of the house will give some money or give something clothes in return ans seek for blessings from the god.
Once again i tell you this festival is the festival of joy and happiness and love.
If you love an assamese girl then this is the best time to approach her and it really happening from earlier days. Our ancestor used to do it, so it continues.
All the home's are filled up with grains as this festival comes after the harvesting is completely done.
So all are happy and they enjoy whole heatedly.
In the end of 5-8 days the money which was collected by performing bihu dance in every one homes in the village will be used for some development work within the village and a part of it is used to have a party among the people who perform the dance. This is awesome dude, i am not talking about the party, its the feeling when you go home by home performing dance with your friends and all the people are watching you and give applaud....i am taking about that. :)
