Now ‘recall’ sent mail in Google
However, the mail does make it to its destination – messing up things for us. In another extreme case, a business firm actually spammed the client’s inbox after sending him the wrong quotation for a project. The idea was to flood the mailbox so that the receiver would be compelled to delete all and out would go the ‘culprit’, along with other mail messages. The ploy worked and the client never had a look at the quotation without the profit margin. But such crucial situations often occur and most of us fervently wish for an application that can recall those ‘wrong’ e-mail messages.
Do not despair, because the solution exists. If you are hooked to Gmail, you do enjoy a great feature that lets you “recall’ the send mail. Well, almost…It actually puts e-mail messages on hold for five seconds before transmitting them. Once you hit the ‘Send’ button, a window displays the ‘Undo’ option. Click it within five seconds and the mail will be back in your draft folder where you can make necessary changes or simply delete it. So you have a five-second window to unto it all and stay away from dangerous blunders. But before you can get that new lease of life, you have to active it first.
Here is a step-by-stem for easy activation
1.Go to the ‘settings’ tab in your e-mail account. It is located at the top right-hand corner of you Gmail account.
2. Click on ‘Labs’. You will be promptly taken to a page that lists an array of wacky innovations by Google technicians. By default, all of them are de-activated.
3. Scroll down the page and you will come to “undo Send’ the description says, quite fittingly: Oops, hit “Send’ too soon? Stop messages from being sent for a few seconds after hitting the send button.
4. Click on ‘Enable’ and ‘Save Changes’ to activate the feature. Now you r Gmail account is updated with the “Undo Send’ feature from Google Labs. Go ahead and make full use o the ‘cancel e-mail sending’ option to stop ill-conceived email messages from leaving your Inbox.
